Lamayuru alchi Trekking

Lamayuru to Alchi trekking is different from others, it offers an opportunity to interact with local people. This wonderful trek leads out from Lamayuru to where you will drive along the moon land and from there, the Leh-Lamayuru Alchi Trek trail is followed by crystal clear streams and then moves towards the 3700m high prinkit la pass. From there, you will be able to see fascinating views of Zanskar range mountains.Thereafter you will pass through the small village of Wanla and its age old monastery and then for the next few days, you will lead towards the Tarla situated at an altitude of 4850m. After passing Mangyu, where two rivers meet, you will reach Alchi which is known for its centuries old monastery and also the opportunity to visit the oldest Lamayuru monastery and famous Alchi monastry, Founded by Lotsawa Rinchen Sangpo. End at ALchi Monatsery, The Alchi monastery lies 69 kms. west of Leh, the most famous and largest of all the Gonpa built by Rinchen Zangpo in 11th Century.

Day -1 :
 Travel from Delhi to Leh by air. The early morning flight from Delhi gets to Leh in one hours  10 minutes. Asst. on arrival & followed transfer to hotel. Leh is at an altitude of 3500 mts. And all guests are advised to rest for the entire day. A successful trek in Ladakh requires you to acclimatize well.

Day -2 : : Leh (sightseeing) :
Full day sightseeing of shey, thiksey, and  shey  was the old capital and the home of the kings of ladakh before the new capital became established in leh the palace sits in a strategic position on a spur jutting out into the Indus valley. The main monastery contains a large Buddha statue sculpted by Nepalese Craftmen. Thiksey, this large Gompa is an impressive sight, situated on top of a craggy hill while the rest of the complex sprawls down beneath it.  O/n hotel

Day-3: Leh to Lamayuru (125 kms.) :
A four hours drive by taxi from Leh brings us to Lamayuru. Below the monastery there is a nice camping ground where we camp for the night.

Day-4 : : Lamayuru to Wanla across Pritikingi La (8 kms; 4/5 hours) :
 Today is a short and easy march. From Lamayuru (3450m) descend towards the village, cross the stream, ascend gradual upward the pass Printikla (3800 m) descend into the gorge. Across the pass a steep descent leads you to a gorge which further takes you on to the entrance of village Wanla (3200m). We camp at Wanla for the night

Day-5 : Wanla to Urshi. 4.30 hours. Trek 2
Now follow the Yapola river on the left and after 2 hours arrive at Penjila. Continue to the valley, one hour after leave the valley and keep continue straight to the north along a stream which leads to Urshi. Camp near the pass after passing off the village.

Day-6 : Urshi - TARLA  6-7  hours.
The trail is very well marked, but difficuilt for the first 5 hours until Tarla (5250 m).. There are masses of fallen rocks on the slope while descending the pass for 3 hours to reach the Tar village. Tar village surrounded by enormous towering stunning mountains. The location of village is like a Pearl in an Oyster. Overnight at camp. (3520m)

Day-7: Tar to Mangyu. 4 to 5 hours. Trek 4
Now path goes up to the mountain side to a new pass. then descend towards the Mang Gyu. It is a beautiful village with a monastery. Below the village is a stream, camp near the stream.

Day 08: Mang Gyu to Alchi. 4 to 5 hours Trek 5
A very good path leads in to a beautifull narrow valley and after 2 hours you reached in a Indus valley at Gyra village. Following the Indus upstream, pass Lardo until reaching the main high way about half an hour before Alchi. Camp near the village.

 

Day 09: Alchi to Leh.
The morning would be spent in visiting the Alchi monastery which has some of the rarest frescoes in the world. In the afternoon there would be a taxi to take back everyone to Leh.

Day-10: Depart for Delhi by the morning flight. For the more adventurous a drive to either Manali or Srinagar can also be arranged on request. The road journey is covered in two days with an overnight halt at either Sarchu, which lies on the Leh-Manali highway, or Kargil, which lies on the Leh-Srinagar highway. .
